Evergreens Over 40 Rugby Club, Brockton Pavilion Rugby Field, Stanley Park, Vancouver BC CANADA
You would find 60+ of the finest dressed at the Evergreens Rugby Club 2022 Christmas Dinner on December 14, 2022. A dedicated chef crew (Chris, Tony, Brett, Frankie, John, Derek and Barry) prepared a holiday feast for all to enjoy. Thanks to the Chefs and clean-up crew (Dave, Julie, and others that helped out).
Eating wasn’t the only thing going on during the event, with many reminiscing about rugby tours and past plays. Joel Peterson, Club President toasted to traditions of the club with the goal to continue rugby touring every second year. The next tour was announced for Japan in 2024. Duncan and Eugene are the rugby tour organizers.
Brett Hay made two big event announcements: first, the Pre-7s Old Boys Tournament will be hosted on the Friday, March 3, 2023. Teams from Ontario, Alberta, BC and potential US teams to play; and second, the Alaska Mini Tour for Players for the September 2023 long-week (4 days/3 nights) at the Alaska Mountain Rugby Grounds aka Rugby’s field of dreams. More details to follow.
Thanks also to Tere for arranging the 50/50 draw in support of the Foodbank.
Let’s celebrate a toast, a klink and a cheer, to good friends and good times, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
The end of winter season (last match) against Snowcaps at Brockton, on Sunday, December 11th at 1PM provided sun at times with cool and clear weather after a cold and rainy week. You could say the weather conditions were pitch perfect and in true Brockton fashion the field was peppered with goose droppings and fall foliage. A beautiful setting for Rugby!
The Evergreens Rugby Club would like to thank the Scribes, SOBs and Vancouver Rowing Clubs for coming out to help make this day a great rugby Sunday. With enough sharing of players, the Snowcaps kick-off with mix of players from both sides creating the two teams of 15 players match with spares!!!!
Respect to the Referee Tyler Dawson for being able to control the bunch of miscreants on the field.
The highlights of the game include the Snowcap player call for the ball to receive a beautiful pass (from Evergreens) from behind the Evergreens back line for a try and we saw a few red shorts making their moves!!!!!
Welcome back to Sonny and his first game match in 2022 and Ian Anderson returning to play after a 9-year retirement! Well done to everyone that played. No injuries to report. The Final Score –Snowcaps won😊
Let's get ready for the next game! The Ebb Tide Rugby Club is coming to Brockton Pavilion at Stanley Park Vancouver on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
The Club silently took time today to honour, reflect, and remember Greg Gilding of the Twilighter Rugby Club.
